Every year, the Technology Association of Oregon runs IGNITE, a high-energy event bringing together 300+ people to hear talks by local people who have a burning idea and the guts to get onstage and share their personal and professional passions. The catch? Each talk is limited to 5 minutes and 20 slides, automatically advanced every 15 seconds.
This year (3/1/2017) I was invited to talk about my passion for 3D printing. I’ve had the great fortune to push the bounds of 3D printing through my IoT work at Intel. In 2016-17 I worked with the amazing team at UNYQ, who make lower-body prosthetic fairings, as well as a beautiful scoliosis brace. Each of these products is body-worn and highly customized to the user. We learned that by adding a sensor to the scoliosis brace, data and deep learning coupled with generative design will accelerate custom design at scale. Watch my talk to learn how!
